2011 Legislative Session

HB 1195, RELATING TO COMMUNITY ASSOCIATIONS, WAS SIGNED BY THE GOVERNOR ON TUESDAY, JUNE 21, AND BECOMES EFFECTIVE ON JULY 1, 2011.

At the June 18th SCCA meeting, our speaker called attention to new statutory provisions requiring that specific text be used for the written notice associations must give to tenants of delinquent owners in order to require the tenant to pay rent to the association rather than the owner.  That change is part of Florida House Bill 1195.  It applies to condominium, cooperative, and homeowners' associations.  Click HERE for the text of portions of Florida Statutes Chapters 718, 719, and 720, as modified by HB 1195, dealing with the collection of rent from the tenants of delinquent owners.  They include the new required notice text.
